On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, Jennifer Denise Warren, loving daughter, sister, aunt and doggie mom passed away at the age of 39.
Denise was born on September 11, 1979 in Blacksburg, VA to John and Sharon Warren. She was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education.
She was given the affectionate name, “Nee-Nee” by her beloved niece and nephew, Ellis and Avery. They were the apple of her eye, and she loved snuggling, playing with them and teaching them new things about the world around them.
Denise was an avid dog lover, and spent much of her time rescuing animals in need, and volunteering with various animal rescue organizations and events. She loved the sound of the waves at the beach, and the colorful, crisp leaves of fall in the mountains. The fall months always carried important traditions for her, particularly her recipe and food competitions at the Dixie Classic Fair and Virginia Tech football.
She fought every one of her battles with Lupus courageously, and was a constant, stoic source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
Denise is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Mary Elizabeth Warren, maternal grandmother, Harriet Raines, infant sister Ashley and dog Zoe.
She is survived by her parents, John and Sharon of Haw River, NC, sister, Nicole and partner Jennifer, Ellis (niece), and Avery (nephew) of Asheville, NC, maternal grandfather, Jesse Raines of Haw River, NC, her five dogs (Heidi, Bridget, Buzzy, Goldie, and Petey), and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation for the family will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane. In addition, the family will receive friends at the residence of her parents, John and Sharon. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 1 at 2:00pm at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of North Carolina (www.lupus.org/northcarolina), and/or Mountain Pet Rescue (www.mountainpetrescueavl.org).
