Clarence Eugene Hill

Jun. 4, 1944 - Apr. 12, 2012

MEBANE, N.C. - The Rev. Clarence E. "JR" Hill, assistant pastor of The People's Church of Mebane passed ever so peacefully into Jesus' arms at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Hospice home in Burlington, N.C.
A true man of God, he loved his Lord, family, and church family - in that order. He graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He pastored Faith Baptist Church in Efland before being led to People's Church. He said he was sent to help his pastor, the Rev. James Lee Christopher, who was more than a pastor to him and more than a brother-in-Christ, he was his best friend. He was "adopted" into the Christopher family.
JR, as all called him, worked many years for Chandler Concrete in Hillsborough, N.C.
JR was married to Betty J. Winebarger Hill, who survives, for 24 years and is survived by sons, Keith (Catherine) Hill of Mebane, Mark L. (Heather) Hill of Prospect Hill, Dean (Christy) Hill of Mebane; daughter, Kelly H. Jarrell of Mebane; stepsons, Gary (Tammy) Palmer, Jerry (Tammy) Oakley, and Ronald Oakley, all of Mebane; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four great step-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Gary James (Jimmy) Hill and wife Brenda; sisters, Wilma Jean Hill, Edna (Betty) Robbins, Mary Sue Self (Don), Doris Lee Hill and partner Beth Whitley. He had many nieces and nephews that were very important to him. They looked to him more as a father and grandfather than uncle or great-uncle.
There will be a visitation at People's Church, 303 West Crawford Street, Mebane, on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at People's Church. The Rev. James W. Christopher and the Rev. Curtis Norris of Olivia, N.C. will officiate.
Memorials may be made to People's Church of Mebane Building Fund or Hospice of Alamance-Caswell.

I know the pain that death can bring to the heart, it is the worse hardship that we have to bear, in our walk of life. I find that taken comfort , throu the words of the Bible, to be a great help. Jesus gave way to tears when his friend Lazarous died.(John11:35) Jesus also said I am the resurrenction, & the life.(John11:25)  He said(Jesus) I am the vine, & my Father is the culvator.(John15:1)    Jehovah said he is near to those who are broken hearted, & those who are crushed in spirit.(Ps.34>18) What a wonderful gift we have been givin, to have the hope of seening our loved ones again.
