Audrey Matuska McDaniel, 84, passed away Saturday May 25, 2019 under hospice care in Palm Bay, Florida. Audrey was a native of New Orleans Louisiana born to parents Dennis & Jennie Bourgeois. At 58 years old she received her LPN degree and license in nursing from Beauford County Community College in Greenville, N.C. where she lived with her husband Al McDaniel. Audrey was an avid seamstress and even designed and sewed three wedding dresses for her daughters and daughter-in-law. She loved children, collected dolls for many years, and was a dedicated Christian.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Potter, son-in-law John Potter III, granddaughter Katie Torell, and grandson, Johnny Matuska Jr, and sisters Gloria Madere and Mary Young.
Audrey is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alfred (Al) McDaniel originally of Burlington, sister Valarie Zehender, daughter Gloria Matuska Torell, and husband Bob of Vero Beach. Son John Matuska Sr. and wife Sherry, of Mayetta NJ. Grandchildren, Kelly Torell, Jayson Matuska, and John Potter IV, and greatgrandchildren, Maisie, Mason, Dalton, Ivan, Kalib and Arrian.
Family Visitation will be held Saturday, June 1, from 10:00-10:45am in the Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, with graveside services to follow at 11:00am.
