Barry Miler Freeman, 93, of Chapel Hill died Sunday, July 14 at his residence. He was a native of Caldwell, NJ, a retired social worker, US Navy veteran and after release from the Navy he attended a Quaker work camp and began a lifelong commitment to pacifism and peacemaking. He was also a member of the Church of Reconciliation in Chapel Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Elizabeth Miler Freeman; son, Michael Freeman and Brother, Robert Freeman.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Wall Freeman of the home; sons, James Freeman of Boulder, CO, Joseph Freeman of Red Bank, NJ; daughter, Elizabeth Freeman Lambar of Durham; grandchildren, Sandra Freeman, Grant Freeman, Michael Freeman, Maya Freeman, Alejandro Lambar, Ariana Lambar, Juan Carlos Lambar, Maribel Lambar, Denis Lambar, Sergio Lambar; sister-in-law, Mary Ashley Plunkett; many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Church of the Reconciliation by Rev. Mark Davidson and Rev. Richard Fernandez. A reception will follow the funeral service. The burial will be 3:00 PM at Crossroads Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
