Billy Roger James

Billy Roger James, 88 of Mebane, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Peak Resources in Graham.  Billy was born in Haw River on July 14, 1931 to Clarence Y. and Ruby Tew James, both deceased. He was the loving husband of 56 years to Sarah Isley James also deceased. Billy was a brick mason and masonry contractor for over 65 years, a veteran of the US Army and a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church. He truly enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was a member of D.C. Blue Hunting & Conservation Club in Pine Bluff, NC for over 60 years. He also enjoyed his home at Badin Lake, NC for 70 years.  Billy loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Billy is survived by: Son Roger A James (Melissa Whetzel) of Mebane. Daughter Elaine Penny (Edward “Duff” Penny) of Cedar Grove. Grandchildren: Kristina Emma James of Graham, Sarah Ellie Penny, and Jack Penny. 

Sisters: Ann Crawford of Mebane, Margaret Downey of Florida, Jane Talley of Arkansas, and  Ruth Conner of Ossipee,  In addition to his wife and parents Billy was preceded in death by Sisters: Jean Foust and Ellen James of Haw River, Mary Smith of Caswell County, and Nancy Miller of Mebane.

Billy’s funeral service will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Hawfields Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. David Ealy. Burial will follow in Hawfields Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Billy’s body will remain at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane until being placed in church at 12:00 PM Saturday.

Family will gather after burial at fellowship hall.
