Mr. Bruce Wayne “Poppy” Rouse, 67, of Graham, NC, passed away on Monday November 5, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Burlington. A native of Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Paul and Ruth Rouse. He was a proud family man and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors camping with his family. Bruce loved his gospel music and would always enjoy his time with Rev. Uston McKenzie going around and singing at nursing homes. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Mebane Ward and a proud veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Enterprise. Bruce was known for his love for others, always putting others above himself. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Darlene Horn Rouse, of the home; daughters, Nora Rimmer (Michael), of Reidsville and Melissa Compton (Sam Chafin), of Elon; grandchildren, Candice, Hailey, Jarrett, Gregory, and Jeremy; sister, Paulette Bates, of Alabama and a brother, Ken Rouse, of Graham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Rouse. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday November 9, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Bishop Howard Overson officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Thursday November 8, 2018 at McClure Funeral Home in Graham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Alamance/Caswell at 918 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
