Inez Herring Shambley, 97, a long-time resident of Efland, NC, passed away Sunday the 16th of December at her home surrounded by family and friends. Inez was preceded in death by her husband of many years Winfred Bradley Shambley, her parents, Luther and Ranzie McPhatter Herring, her son, Johnny Shambley, grandson Bradley Shambley, granddaughter Patricia Harden and a grandson in law Bobby Riley.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Morris and Shirley Shambley of Efland, granddaughter, Cathy Riley of Durham, great granddaughters, Jessica Harden, Tyler Riley Brinner and Ashley Harden, great great grandson Robert Brinner, niece Betty Jean Way Vaughn and a grandson in law David Harden. All whom loved her and brought great joy to her later years. The family would like to thank Stephanie at Hospice and Joyce Clayton, Faye Cates and Xinia Rudd for helping the family take loving care for their mother.
Born in 1921, Inez lived a long and wonderful life working with her family on their farm. She loved her family and friends, enjoyed going to church, and had a wonderful smile that could light up the room.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday December 21st at Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church, 3505 Chestnut Ridge Church Rd. Efland. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
