James Medlin Obituary

James Robert Medlin, 82, of Haw River died Wednesday, February 6, 2019. He was a native of Union County, NC, a retired minister, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Haw River. He was an avid gardener, never met a stranger, enjoyed games, puzzles and reading, especially history, and was an education enthusiast. After retirement from the ministry, he loved teaching Sunday School. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert & Janie Moore Medlin and his sisters, Janeen Holmes and Brenda Medlin

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda Myers Medlin of the home; children, Stephen Medlin and wife Kelly of Jonesborough, TN; Sheila Bolick and husband Dean of Gastonia, Stuart Medlin and wife Diana of Cary; brothers, Marvin Medlin and wife Dot of Lebanon, TN; Kenneth Medlin and wife Judy of Hurdle Mills; & Douglas Medlin and wife Patricia of Marshville, NC; grandchildren, Brock Medlin, Alex Medlin, Melinda Medlin, Amelia Barnes and husband Adam, Miranda Bolick, Lydia Bolick, Jennifer Chase and husband Andrew, Juliana Medlin and Jacob Medlin.

A service to celebrate his life will be 3:00 PM Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Haw River by Pastor Jonathan Jenkins and Pastor Walter Jones. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 2:00 – 3:00 before the service.
