Linda Gerzema Smith

Mrs. Linda Gerzema Smith, 69, of Burlington, formerly of Mebane, NC passed away on Monday December 24, 2018 at her residence. A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Dorothy Sykes Gerzema. She was a devout Christian as she loved the Lord and her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She loved her grandchildren as they were the light of her eye. Linda loved Christmas and all the fun that came with it. She enjoyed decorating her Christmas Tree’s so the family could always enjoy them as she did. Survivors include her daughter, Annie Lawson and husband Brad, of Advance; sons, Thomas Newcomer and wife Marie, of Hillsborough, Chris Thompson and wife Alicia, of Elm City, NC and John Paul Smith and wife Kristen; her loving grandchildren, Christian Thompson, Jordan, Noah, and Keegan Smith, River and Emily Newcomer and Brandon Newcomer Lawson; beloved cousin, “Aunt Beth” Alexiou, of VA and her special Cat, Buddy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Gerzema. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday January 2, 2018 in Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane with the Pastor Gary Loftis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM prior to the graveside service at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to GiGi’s Playhouse at 2887 Jones Franklin Rd, Raleigh, NC 27606
