Mafalda McVey

McVey, Mafalda Laurieana Mora affectionately known as “Nana and Sis” (one month short of age 91) died peacefully at Hospice Home of Alamance County, NC on May 5, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Clarence Anderson McVey, Jr., AKA Pete.  Originally born In Durham, NC she was the only daughter of the five children of Leo and Lilly Mora.  Her brothers were Leo, Myron, Waldo and Marco Mora. She is survived by her brother Marco Mora, two loving son's Joseph W. McVey and Jeffrey P. McVey, her daughter-in-law Sheila P. McVey, her granddaughters Kennan McVey Wyne and Erin Elizabeth McVey Chalifoux, by her great grandson Wyatt H. Chalifoux and two son-in-law’s Troy Wyne and Will Chalifoux.  A second great grandson is due to be born any day.  A special thank you goes out to her very close niece, Penny M. Lane, for her friendship, love and care as well as Crystal M. Church for her love and caregiving for the past two years. In addition, she was greatly blessed with many, many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, far and wide.  Mafalda was a loyal member of Historic Providence Christian Church in Graham, NC for over 30 years.  She married her Alexander Wilson Elementary School second grade sweetheart in 1949 and gave Pete to the Lord in 1986.  A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of the doctors and nurses over the past years as well as to the Hospice Home of Alamance County NC for their great and loving care.   It is the family's request that memorial donations be considered in lieu of flowers to the Hospice Home, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC  27215, phone 336-532-0180. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at McClure Funeral Home on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 1030 S. Main St., Graham, NC.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 at  Historic Providence Christian Church at 819 N. Main St, Graham, NC with internment at Alamance Memorial Park Hwy 70 following.
