December 28, 1955 – November 1, 2018

Michael Donelson Carter 62, passed after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Carter County, Elizabethton, TN. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, son, Ken Carter (Angela), and 3 grandchildren (Michael, Kate, and Will).

Mike graduated and played football, baseball and basketball at Saratoga Central High School in Wilson County, NC.  He attended and played baseball at Appalachian State University and was a volunteer firefighter with Bakertown VFD.  Journeys in life led him to work near the beach where he met the love of his life. They raised their family in Mebane, NC where he worked as a quality control manager at Argos. Mike was an avid reader, hunter, loved working with his hands, enjoyed spending time with family, and considered his co-workers family.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Howerton, and his father, A. D. Carter, Jr. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his mother Gena Depew Carter, younger siblings, Philip Carter, Peter Carter (Lucia), Jane Carter Campbell, Susan Carter Saltzman (Paul), John Carter (Beverly), Wendy Carter Wingrove (Brian), numerous nieces, nephews, and friends of his children.  He will be dearly missed by all.
