Mike "Mikey" Copeland

Michael Wayne Copeland (Mike) of Kingsland, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019.  Mike was born on November 19, 1982 in Burlington, NC.  He was a graduate of Alamance Christian School.  After high school, Mike worked as a firefighter in Efland, Hillsborough and Carrboro.

He was a Marine Corp veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan.  More recently, Mike was the Commercial Fleet Director at Murray Ford in Kingsland, Georgia.  Mike loved his work, and softball was his passion.  Anyone who knew him knew he was a compassionate, caring man who never knew a stranger and would do anything for anyone.  His mischievous smile was contagious and was shared with everyone he met.

Mike is survived by his wife Katie, his father Randy Copeland (Deborah), his mother Cheryl Tester Whitlow (Alfred), two sisters Kristi Jefferies and Heather Coley, three brothers Lee Whitlow (Jenn), TJ Whitlow (Jennifer) and Tim Whitlow (Kristen), grandmothers Mary Copeland and Ruby Tester, and 15 nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his grandfathers, H.E. (Ed) Copeland and Bernard L. Tester, and his cousin Branden Kinnison.

The family will receive friends at the home of Randy Copeland on Mt. Willing Rd. in Efland.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane, NC.  His funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
