October 8, 2019 Opal Cooper Rettig went to her heavenly home. She was greeted by her husband of 60 years, Howard W. Rettig, her daughter Sharon Logan and son in law Cecil Logan, Her son Ret Lt. Col. H. Wayne Rettig and granddaughter Shawnna Rettig. Opal was born in Kentucky, while married the family moved to Missouri and finally to North Carolina. Opal was a member of Glenn Hope Baptist Church, until health issues prevented her from attending. She was active in Senior Adult Activities and assisted in teaching Sunday school and youth activities. Opal left behind Granddaughter Tiffanie (Steve) Gotsch – Daughter in law Sue Rettig – Granddaughters Shelli Rettig and Shannon Rettig. Great grandchildren KC Brown and Maddie Brown. Her son David Rettig – daughter in law Phyllis, grandchildren Dustin Rettig and Eva (Zach) McGuire, and a daughter Jackie Rettig and her best buddy Tucker Glenn. Opal enjoyed traveling, reading, camping, and cheering on her North Carolina Tar Heels. A funeral service will be held at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham Saturday October 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM with the Pastor Larry Redding officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Toys for Tots and Ronald McDonald Homes
