Patricia Horton Furr

Patsi Furr of Mebane, North Carolina passed away May 9, 2019.  Born September 3, 1949 to Raymond and Jean Horton, the oldest of 2 children.  Patsi is survived by her brother Kenneth Alan Horton and wife Linda  Horton of Chesapeake, Virginia and two nieces Stephanie Horton and Melissa Horton both residing in Chesapeake, Virginia.  She also left behind a cherished lifelong friendship with Chuck and Lisa Dailey, and their daughter Brittany Dailey of Chapel Hill.  Patsi departed this life with her beloved bichon poodle, Duchess, by her side.

Patsi had a long career, of which, the last 26 years she was part of ABOS (American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons) as Coordinator of Part I Exam and Meeting Planner to the Board of Directors.  In her roles she had the opportunity to work with doctors and associates across the country.  Her special brand of humor and wit, coupled with her in-depth knowledge of certification processes and programs made her a well known subject matter expert and well-loved part of the organization.  Upon her retirement ‘The Annual Patsi Furr Coordinator Lecture’ was established in appreciation of her love and dedication to the Association of Residency Coordinators in Orthopedic Surgery (ARCOS) and to the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS).  She had the honor of being the inaugural speaker on May 7, 2018.

We will miss her cheerful smile, her caring personality and especially that sharp wit.  She had a creative mind, the gift of conversation and the spirit of a poet that came through in all aspects of her life that left imprints on the hearts of all those she shared her talents with. 

There will be a celebration of her life, Friday May 17, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at her home 307 N. Ninth Street, Mebane, North Carolina, 27302.  Bring your memories and good times to share with family and friends.
