Patricia Ann Kratka, 77, of Mebane, NC died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 23, 2019. Pat was born in New Britain, CT and raised in Plainville, CT. She met the love of her life, Joseph Kratka, in their teenage years. They were married on April 28, 1962 and had two children Lori and Scott.
Pat's family was her life and she loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and a loyal friend. Pat was an amazing grandmother who had an integral part of the upbringing of her grandchildren.
Pat loved celebrating Christmas and buying special gifts for her children and grandchildren. She started her next year’s Christmas shopping on 12/26 with her sister Debbie and shopped all year, wrapping as she went along. Pat put thought into every gift she bought to make sure it was something special. Pat loved to bake and try new recipes. Her scrabble party mix and peanut butter chocolate kiss cookies were favorites of all. Pat loved the simple things in life and enjoyed nothing more than her weekly trip to the movies with Joe. She loved her visits to Connecticut and New Jersey twice a year visiting her family and friends and her favorite spots. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was the family Scrabble champion routinely coming up with high scoring words to the dismay of her opponents.
Pat is predeceased by her parents Edward and Gertrude Foley. Surviving is her loving husband Joseph Kratka of 57 years and her children Lori Hurst of Mebane, NC and Scott Kratka and his wife Lisa Kratka of Lincroft, NJ, her 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hurst, Emily Hurst, Caroline Kratka, Catherine Kratka, Nicholas Hurst, Joseph Kratka and Jack Kratka, and her loving sister, Deborah Benzi of Middletown, CT as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday December 28, 2019 from 9:30-11:00am at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane. A funeral service will be held at 11am in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane. Burial will follow in Mebane Memorial Gardens.
