Ruth Irene (Ursery) Perkins

Ruth Ursery Perkins, 70, of Hillsville, Va. Passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Hillsville Health and Rehab., Hillsville, Va.

Ruth was a native of Alamance County. She had lived the last 13 years in Hillsville VA with her beloved friend and caregiver Linville Perkins. Ruth went to Southern Alamance High School. She worked several years at the cotton mill in Saxapahaw. She then attended Alamance Community College to study nursing. Receiving her LPN.  She started a career doing what she loved. Taking care of others. She felt that was her calling. She enjoyed making sure her usually elderly patients were well cared for. After living several different states for work, She settled in Hillsville. She wanted to spend her retirement in the mountains she loved.

She was preceded in death by her father William Ursery, Mother Caroleen Ursery, beloved son Ron Lankford, brothers Ted Ursery, Donnell Ursery, and a sister Opal Ursery Hanks.

Survivors include Daughter Michael "Jodi" Eastwood Coker husband Brian, Daughter Carmen Eastwood, husband Arnulfo Martinez-Ramos, granddaughter Aubrianna, Step granddaughters Ashley and Emily Adoptive grandchildren Alex, Phoebe, and Walker Brothers Howard Ursery wife Brenda, Mike Ursery, Sisters Faye Holt husband Mike, Sandi Ursery Scott husband Marshall, As well as many loved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 3:00 PM  in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Officiating will be Rev. Wade Cox.  Burial will follow in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service.
