Graham – Terry Marshall Nance, 61, passed away March 7, 2019 at Peak Resources Alamance after 1 year of declining health. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who gave of himself to his family and friends while expecting nothing in return. The joy and laughter that he brought to family and friends on this earth will live on with them. He never let his disabilities define him and did the best he could with his many talents. He was born January 17, 1958 to George Grover and Ruth Deese Nance. Mr. Nance was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jacob Eli Nance.
He is survived by his sisters Janet Allen (Richard) of Burlington, Sherry Jordan (Don) of Edenton, and brother Joel Nance (Susan) of Raleigh, along with four nephews, two nieces, and two great-nephews.
Marshall loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved to attend family reunions and visit with family members he had not seen in some time. He lived in Ralph Scott Life Services group homes for over forty years, making friends easily with his fellow residents there, as well as the care givers. Even in his short time at Peak Resources, he attracted the love and friendship of the caregivers and his fellow residents, who treated him with kindness and compassion. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends who will remember him by his beloved “Marshallisms”. Growing up in the First Baptist Church in Mebane, Marshall enjoyed the music and loved “directing” the choir from his pew. He also enjoyed playing duets with his sisters and wore out piano seats over the years. Marshall loved to dance; he brought joy and laughter to his family and friends whenever he heard a favorite song and began his signature dance.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday March 10, 2019 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Dennis Hill officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
