Iris Jones Bennett

Mrs. Iris Jones Bennett, 89, of Burlington, NC, passed away on Wednesday August 8, 2018 at White Oak Manor in Burlington. A native of Raleigh County, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Woods Jones. Iris was retired from Rose’s Department Store and loved to spend time fishing with her husband and working in her flower beds. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and she was known for being a character, always making herself and others around her smile. Survivors include her children, Thad O. Bennett Jr. and wife Delores, of Graham, Pat B. Florence and husband Calvin, of Haw River, Shirley B. Terrell and husband Ray, of Victorville, CA and Ronnie H. Bennett and wife Julia, Graham; 11 grandchildren and many loving great and great great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Jones, of PA, Alton Jones, of PA, Bob Jones, of MD and Eddie Jones, of WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus O. Bennett Sr. and 5 loving sisters and 2 loving brothers. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 Pm on Sunday August 12, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with Chaplain Danny Green officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held on Monday August 13, 2018 at Alamance Memorial Park.
