MEBANE - Alfred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a dedicated Shriner, a rare and determined gentleman who was deeply loved by family and friends. He endured a lengthy illness and suffered with dignity and grace, never complaining and always more concerned with his family than with his own condition. At his request, there will be no public funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations may be made to the Hospice of Alamance-Caswell or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The family would like to express their profound gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Hospice, who provided exemplary care, and who treated Alfred and all of us with extraordinary compassion. Alfred is survived by Reena, his wife of almost 65 years, three loving daughters Reena, Karin and Ingrid, and their husbands, and by six grandchildren who have survived Camp Opa.
