Ann Wilson Cunniff entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 17, 2026. She was a devoted follower of Christ, a loving mother, proud Gran, and a dear friend. Ann’s life was marked by love, service, and kindness, and her presence was truly a gift to everyone who knew her.
Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she found comfort in the promise of Jeremiah 29:11 — that God’s plans are filled with hope and a future.
Ann was born on February 28, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee to J. Van Wilson Sr. and Flossie Anne Wilson (Weathersby) and raised in Lula, Mississippi. Over the years, life took her to many places, including Florida, Colorado, and North Carolina. Attending University of Southern Mississippi and graduating from Florida International University, she built a career in Human Resources, working with Memorial Healthcare, Walmart, and the nonprofit organization Kids In Distress.
Serving others was simply who Ann was. She shared her faith through kindness, prayer, community, and forgiveness, touching countless lives along the way. She was a faithful member of Restoration Church of Durham.
Family meant everything to Ann. She was always ready with guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Anne Merchel (John); her brother, Thurston Wilson (Carol); her granddaughters, Corinne Brittany Guillen (Lauren), Cayla Catherine Merchel (Kaden), and Jenna Ann Merchel (Chase); her nephews, Steve and Joey Wilson; friends at first, family foreva Carin and Dominick Cruz; and, of course, her beloved and cherished pup, Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, J. Van Wilson Jr., whom she now joyfully joins in God’s presence.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Friday 2/6/2026 at 11 am at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane, NC, led by Pastor Leah Rade. We’ll come together to visit and thank God for Ann’s life at 11 am and celebrate the promise of eternal life beginning at 12 pm.
