Barbara Gail Cathey Brown

Gail Cathey Brown, 71, of Burlington, died Friday, December 6, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington, NC.  A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Walter William (Bill) and Lillie Thomas Cathey.  Gail enjoyed volunteering with Sparkle Cat Rescue and the Humane Society of Alamance County where she was one of their foster homes.  She also loved giving time to the W.D. Hammer VFW Post #    , Gibsonville, where she worked to keep the scrapbook memorials updated.  She loved doting on her grandchildren and made sure she kept up with and let everyone know their current accolades as they were the lights of her smiles.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and animal advocate.  Survivors include her husband, Leonard Royall Brown, Jr.; her daughter, Kimberly (Don) Starcher of Greensboro, her grandchildren, Brendan James, Cassidy Makin, and Connor Thomas; her brother, Tommy (Debbie) Cathey of Haw River; her nieces, Tammi (Brad) Deal, Paige (Jerry) Payne, and Ashley (Daniel) Tripp; her cousin, Rhonda (Dave) Pollard of Durham, and her brothers in law, Chuck Brown and Tommy Brown.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Cathey and Gene Cathey, both of Burlington.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sparkle Cat Rescue, 2966 S Church St, Suite 164, Burlington, NC 27215.  A Celebration of Life for Gail will be Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11:00am at McClure Funeral Home in Graham with visitation immediately after.  The family will also receive visitors at the family home.
