Barbara Jane Hood, 67, of 527 Queen Ann St., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at her residence.A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Waverly Thomas Hood and Verna Saultz Hood, both deceased. She was retired from AT&T and was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a substitute teacher for Alamance-Burlington School System. She had a love for all animals, especially her fur babies, Chloe, Amazing, Ceja and Gracie.In addition to her fiancé and soul mate Mr. Richard Diamond, survivors include her sons, Timothy Wayne Moore and wife Renee Strider Moore of Graham and Kevin Eugene Smith and Kimberly Johnson of Burlington; a daughter, Kimberly Moore Olgetree and husband William Olgetree of Detroit, Mich.; a niece Julie Hood Guerrero; and seven granddaughters; one grandson and four great-grandchildren; a loving Aunt Doris Johnson and cousin Tommy Johnson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Waverly Thomas (Tommy) Hood Jr. and a grandson, Christian Brincefield. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham officiated by the Rev. Norman Fargis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday Nov. 1, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m.Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice for their special care of Miss Barbara Jane Hood, especially Phoebe and Rosa.
