Barbara Moore Lowe, 92, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2026, with her children by her side. She was born on February 5, 1934, in Graham, North Carolina, to Joy Wood and Clem Bascom Moore.

Barbara grew up in Graham and after graduating from Graham High School, she attended Elon College where she was a member of Tau Zeta Phi sorority. After graduating in 1954, she served as the executive assistant to the president of Duke Power.

In October 1954, Barbara married the love of her life, Elwyn Hardin Lowe, Sr. Together, they built a loving home and shared 61 years of marriage rooted in faith, family, and devotion.

Barbara was a devout wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and Elwyn raised their four children with steady love and care, always keeping family at the center of their lives. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Graham, where she shared her gifts through singing in the choir, playing piano, and teaching Sunday School.

Barbara had a gentle spirit and a gift for making a home feel warm and welcoming. She loved growing violets, decorating for the holidays with her collection of Byers Christmas Carolers, and annual beach trips with her family. She also loved collecting pineapples, a fitting symbol of the hospitality, warmth, and graciousness she showed to others throughout her life.

Barbara will be remembered as a polite woman of grace, unwavering devotion, and quiet strength. Her life was a true testament to faith, honor, commitment, and the gentle goodness that leaves a lasting legacy. Through her heartfelt care, steady encouragement, and abounding love, she touched many lives and showed deep gratitude for those around her.

She held a remarkably long memory for the goodness of others, carrying past acts of kindness in her heart through the years and never forgetting to offer a fresh, heartfelt word of thanks to those who crossed her path.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara is survived by her four children, Nancy Lowe McGuire (Marty), Ellen Lowe Hilyer (Dan), Martha Lowe Neal (Phil), and Elwyn Hardin Lowe Jr. (Kelly). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laura (Jason), Elizabeth (Justus), Meredith (Nick), Grant (Lauren), Mary (James), Jacob (Kat), Taylor (Connor), Ashlyn (Robby), and Trey; and her great-grandchildren, Kate, Rosie, Emmett, and Lily.
