Mrs. Barbara Jean Oldham, 86, of Forest City, NC went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. She was the daughter of the late John and Narvie Terrell. Barbara was a devoted nurse for forty years, dedicating her life to the care of others. She worked at Cone Mill, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Walter Kidde, and several other places over the years, always with a heart full of compassion and a desire to help those in need. Her kindness and nurturing spirit were felt by everyone who knew her. Barbara's love for caring for others extended far beyond her professional life. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, offering her warmth and guidance to her family with endless love and support. Her selflessness, genuine care, and gentle nature left a mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mrs. Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas William Oldham Jr.; her daughter, Julie Lynn Spencer (Jim); her son, John Oldham (Sheila); her grandchildren, Kenna Leigh Spencer, Matthew Scott Whisnant (Maegan), Taylor Brook Oldham, Brieanna Leigh Oldham, and Thomas William Oldham; and her great grandchildren, Jackson Wilkinson and Ella Mae Whisnant.
A funeral service will be held to honor her life on Monday, April 7 2025, at First Baptist Church in Haw River beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Long’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery in Burlington. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
