Barbara Martin Simpson, 87, passed away at the Hospice Home of Alamance on Wednesday, November 02, 2022. She was a native of Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Sterling McCoy Martin and Margaret Faucette Martin. Mrs. Simpson was a member of Pilgrim Chapel Baptist Church. Barbara will be remembered as a hardworking and independent woman full of love, she was always sure to be kind, sweet, and had a genuine care for others and their needs. Her contagious laugh and caring manner were often accompanied by the reassuring phrase, “yeah honey.” Mrs. Simpson enjoyed many things such as cooking, baking, her stories, game shows, and her word search books. While she had a love for these hobbies nothing ever surpassed the love she had for her family, her children and grandchildren held the most special place in her heart.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Alton Simpson, and her son, Dennis Simpson.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her son, Randy Simpson, her grandson, Timmy Simpson (Megan), her great-grandchildren, Larissa, Allie, and Berkley, her brother, Lee Martin, and her nephews, Ryan Martin (Amber), and Brandon Martin (Stephanie), and special friend, Geneva Pruitt.
A funeral service will be held at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, beginning at 2:00PM on Monday, November 07, 2022, with the Reverend Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park. A visitation will be held for the family to receive friends prior to the service from 12:00PM to 2:00PM on Monday and other times at the residence of Barbara’s grandson, Timmy Simpson.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Libby, April, Ruby, and all the nurses and staff of Hospice for their love and care of Mrs. Simpson in her time of need.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice of Alamance-Caswell.
