Bernard "Bernie" Daniel Simber Jr.

Bernard Daniel “Bernie” Simber, Jr. 75, of Mebane passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Duke University Medical Center. Bernie was born in Warren County to Bernard Daniel Simber Sr, and Erma Cawthorne Simber both deceased. Bernie was a retired Chevrolet and Cadillac Salesman for 43 years retiring from Dick Shirley Chevrolet. He was also a member of the Burlington Shag Club and was a long-time member of the Hawfields Civitan Club. Bernie proudly served his country in the US Airforce.

Bernie is survived by his son, Bernard D. “Bear” Simber, III and his wife Tammy and his  precious granddaughter, Allie Simber. sister, Julia Young and her husband Jimmy. Very Special friend, Judy Bateman. Brother in law, Howard Shotwell and his wife Sandy. Brother in law, Kent Shotwell and his wife Denise.  Father in law, William Lane and friend Billie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and  late wife and life partner of 41 years, Delana Shotwell Simber .  Bernie also was preceded in death by brother, Leslie David Simber and sister, Dianne Lunsford.

A funeral service for Bernie will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane. Officiating will be Rev, Clarence Toney. Burial will follow in Hawfields Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Hawfield Civitan Shelter across the road from the cemetery.
