Mebane

Bernice Oliver Wilson, 97, passed away at her residence on September 12, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Daniel Oliver and Addie Pulliam Oliver.

Our Mom was one of the strongest women we knew. She worked a full-time job and ran the household our entire childhood. She would come home after work, cook us a healthy meal which included homemade biscuits every night. Her biscuits were legendary and still evoke fond mouthwatering memories. She also was an excellent seamstress and sewed all our clothes including two wedding dresses. After her retirement from the city of Mebane, she became active in her church activities where she enjoyed the fellowship of her church family. One of her favorite activities was traveling with groups from the Mebane arts center. She and her close friend BJ participated in the meals on wheels program when they were well into their 80’s and early 90’s. This truly amazed us.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Donna Wilson Stout (Vic), Pamela Wilson Warren (Donnie), and Paula Wilson Fuller (Jeff). Sister Joyce Oliver Murray. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren, who she adored and was referred to as grandma B.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Hugh (Jimmy) Wilson and her sister Mary Louise Oliver Matthews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Mebane United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Our Mom lived a long and full life and will be missed by all.
