Bessie Howard

Bessie Ruth Howard, 99, of 7510 York Loop Road, Mebane, NC passed away at home, surrounded by family, on September 17, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Cecil Howard, and her son, Perry Tommy Biggs. She was one of 10 children; three girls and seven boys. She was a long time member of Lebanon United Methodist Church. Ruth was employed for many years by May Apparel: Peaches and Cream in Mebane. After retirement she worked part time for 5 years at Biscuitville into her 80's. She was well know by the patrons as "Miss Ruth". She also enjoyed baking pound cakes for friends and family. Ruth and Cecil welcomed their many friends to their home anytime. She is survived by her son, Dale Howard (Mary Ann) of the home, granddaughter Sharon Durham (Mike), three great-grandchildren, Timothy Smith, Justin Smith, and Daniel Gentry; and one great-grandchild Dale Smith. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother and did so much for her family. The family would like to thank Rebecca Adams for her loving care and assistance to Ruth during her final years.
