Mrs. Bessie Lillian Perkins Durrett Turner, 78, of Durham, formerly of Harden Street in Burlington, NC, passed away on Sunday September 4, 2016 at her residence in Durham. A native of Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Orville Oliver and Mimmie Bell Perkins. She was known for being one of the kindest, loving, selfless, happy, funny, and in all wonderful woman, grandmother, mother and child, She always put others before herself even though she may tell you what she thinks, she was always there to be by your side. Survivors include her daughter, Rowena Dunlap and husband Norman, of Durham and her son, Hunter Allen Durrett Jr. and wife Donna, of VA; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren with one on the way in November; brothers, William and Raymond Perkins; sisters, Alice Stoneman and Christine Herring and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Anderson Turner; her past husband, Hunter A. Durrett Sr. and great grandson, Hunter Jacob Matthew Barnes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday September 9, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
