Bessie (Betsy) Arlene Scott Key passed away on August 23, 2022, at AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington after a long and painful battle with a multitude of health conditions. She was born in Alamance County on April 24, 1953, to John Robert “Johnny” Scott and Mable Aleen Jones Scott.
She worked in many roles within the community but always with the public. Her latest job before retirement was as a balloonist at It’s Party Time, where she made many children smile with her creations. While she had many professional accomplishments, she was proudest of the way that her work allowed her to be of service to people. In her work and personal life, it was Betsy’s joy to interact with her community at every level. She has been able to donate time and resources to children and adults with developmental disabilities. She has supported many child’s community sport teams, dance teams, scout groups and church groups of her children and grandchildren
Although we are proud of the impact she made on our community, we remember her most as a loving and caring mother, godmother, aunt, grandmother and mother-in-law who put God and her family above all else.
