Beverly “Babs” Smith Hackney 68 of Burlington suddenly passed away Wednesday August 17th, 2022 Born in Alamance county she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes Smith. Babs was a 1971 graduate of Western High School. She was employed at Towers Hosiery until it’s closing and then become a CNA and was later employed with White Oak Manor until she retired in 2021. Babs was preceded in death by her late husband Wayne. She is survived by her daughter Michele Hodge (Jimmy Westbrook) and son Gray Hackney (Alicia Muck). A grandson Jonathon Hodge (Fiancé Samantha Mitchell) and a brother Gary “Red” Smith (Linda). And also a adoptive daughter Nikki Murray. Babs will be missed by her fur babies Slick and Blaze. In her younger years Babs enjoyed riding motorcycles, horses and she also had a special passion for camping and bluegrass music. If you knew Babs you knew her love for flip flops and fishing. Babs always put others first and was the main caregiver for her mom and aunt for many years. A memorial service will be conducted by Tommy Simmons on Sunday August 21, 2022, in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham at 2pm. The family will receive friends following the service. at other times they will be at the residence. In lieu memorials can be made to Faucette Fire Department 2164 Carolina Rd Burlington, NC 27217.
