MEBANE, N.C. - Mrs. Billie Faye Welch Dodson, 79, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. The wife of the late Bobby Anderson Dodson, Billie Faye was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Alamance County, N.C., to the late Walter Stokes Welch and Lillie Whitfield Welch. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Jo Welch Day and Betty Stokes Welch Mitchell. She worked several jobs throughout her life. Most notably, she was a child care provider for numerous children in the community while raising her loving family. She had a tremendous impact on the children she raised. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Ricky (Jan) of Mebane, Ronnie (Evelyn) of Haw River, Pat (Bonnie) of Mebane, Pam (Danny Reaves) of Haw River, Timmy (Donna) of Graham, Glenn (Kathy) and Philip (Leigh), all of Burlington; stepson, Bobby Jr. (Amy) of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Lillie Ann Philson, of Cookeville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Niki, Shea, Melissa, Todd, Gary, Emily, Cheryl, Patrick, Dusty, Dean, Nathan, Rachel, James, Preston, Weston, Lofton, Karaleigh and Blaine; and 13 great-grandchildren.The family would like to give a special thanks to her most recent care givers, Brenda and Connie. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Rev. Ernie Keck officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.The family will greet friends at the residence from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday and following the service on Sunday.
