Billy Wayne Boggs

Mr. Billy Wayne Boggs, 75, of Haw River, NC, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2016 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. A native of Alamance County, NC, he was the son of the late Nathan “Red” and Lottie Councilman Boggs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Haw River. He was retired with General Electric with 25 years of service in the Inventory department after being the third person hired at General Electric. Mr. Boggs was known for his many years as a High School football, basketball, and baseball referee as well as many years volunteered as a coach with the Haw River Recreation department. He was an avid gardener and he always prided himself in his tomato plants. Survivors include his children, Billy Boggs Jr. and wife Lori, of Garner, NC and Donald Boggs and wife Mary, of Hillsborough, Matthew Isley and wife Beth, of Wake Forest, Teri Isley Mahon and husband Guy, of Burlington, and Ryan Isley and wife Shannon, of Burlington; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Buddy Boggs and wife Barbara, of Haw River, and Walter Jones and wife Beth, of Haw River. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Frank Boggs; brothers, Roger Dale Boggs, Bobby E. Boggs, and Richard A. Boggs. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday January 13, 2016 at The First Baptist Church of Haw River with the Rev. Johnathan Jenkins and The Rev. Walter Jones Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Haw River Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday January 12, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and other times at the residence of the daughter Teri at 863 Plaza Dr. Burlington, NC 27217.
