Billy "Bill" Eugene Mitchell

MEBANE, N.C. - Billy "Bill" Eugene Mitchell, 80, of 504 N. Carr Street, passed away at the Hospice Home on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at 2:07 p.m. Bill was a member of the Bingham Lodge in Mebane and an amateur ham radio operator. He was also an active member of Mebane United Methodist Church, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 95.Bill leaves behind a wife, Mary Ellen Lewis Mitchell, of the home; sons, Bill Mitchell Jr. (Vicki) of Oxford, and Jim Mitchell (Karen) of Mebane; daughter, Ann Cales of Mebane; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Stafford Mitchell and Ila Belle Harris Mitchell; and brother, Frank Tyler. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Mebane United Methodist Church in Mebane, with the Rev. Johnny Wright officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
