Billy Thomas Long

Billy Long, 93, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024, at Mebane Ridge Assisted Living. He was the son of the late Ernest and Hallie Oakley Long. Billy served in the US Army and later drove a truck for JW Long Sand and Stone. Billy never met a stranger and loved to tell jokes and old stories. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Helen Long; sons, Bobby Long (Mitzi), Tommy Long (Donna), Wayne Long (Sheryl); 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Frances, three brothers and five sisters. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday July 26, 2024 in the McClure Chapel in Graham.  The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 1pm-2pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington.
