Billy Ray Strickland Sr.

Mr. Billy Ray Strickland, 72, of Graham, NC, passed away on Friday July 15, 2016 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Blanche Michael Strickland. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His hobby and passion was being a mechanic, as he loved to work on cars. He attended North Graham Baptist Church and he enjoyed wildlife and feeding the neighborhood deer to make sure they had plenty to eat. Survivors include his wife, Johanna Szymankiewicz Strickland, of the home; daughter, Sandra Michael (Buddy), of Burlington; sons, Billy Ray Strickland (Cathy), of Burlington, Brian Strickland (Teresa), of Snow Camp and Walter Strickland (Donna), of Brown Summit; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Cartassi (Rudolph), of Burlington and Margie Stewart, of Liberty; brothers, James Strickland, of Mebane and Robert Strickland (Margaret), of NJ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving sisters, Mable Eastwood, Florence Jordan and Dorris Strickland. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Rev. Randy Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday July 19m 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the residence of the son Billy Jr. at 2825 Westchester Dr. Burlington, NC.
