Bob Hupman

William Robert Hupman, Jr. (Bob) of Mebane passed away on Wednesday at the age of 65 from a heart attack. Bob was born in Mebane on September 6, 1952 to William Robert (Bill) and Mary Kathryn (Kitty). He graduated from Eastern Alamance High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, but gained most of his education from talking with friends. He traveled the world and unfailingly introduced himself to all as, "Bob Hupman from Mebane." Bob was President of the Mebane Home Telephone Company (later, Mebtel) and was proud to serve on the Mebane City Council for 28 years. Bob is survived by his children Will, Seth (and Ashley), Matt, Caitlyn, and Caroline (and Bruno Marcenaro); his granddaughter, Olivia; his mother, Kitty; and his siblings Susan (and Firoze Rao), Lynn (and John Neal), Mac (and Sonya), Laura Ann (and Mitch Glasgow), and Julie (and Rob Ocko). Visitation will take place on Monday, October 16th from 5 - 8 pm at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane. The funeral will be on Tuesday, October 17th at 11 am at Mebane United Methodist Church. Bob will buried next to his father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob's memory to The Kitty Hupman Scholarship Foundation at Mebane United Methodist Church, 200 South Fourth Street, Mebane, NC 27302. We will carry Bob's memory and vibrant spirit with us always and endeavor to abide by his creed that "life is for the living."
