Bonnie Mitchell, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on Valentine's Day in 1962, to the late Charlie and Edna Mitchell, Bonnie's life was a testament to the power of love, which she generously spread to all who were blessed to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Bonnie's life was marked by her devotion to her children, Jennifer Wilkerson and Kyle Knight. Her role as "MawMaw" to her cherished grandchildren, Harper, Emma, Addison, Kasen, and Kylah, was one she embraced with every fiber of her being. Her love for them was boundless, and she reveled in every moment spent in their company.
She is also survived by her loving sister, Evon Leach; nephews, Chad Leach, Steven Hoggard, and Chris Hoggard, will remember their aunt as a constant source of encouragement and laughter. Her special family friend, Teresa McGhee, along with many others, will deeply miss her friendship.
Bonnie's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She found solace in the tranquility of Hyco Lake, where she spent countless hours basking in the beauty of nature. Traveling was another joy for Bonnie; she cherished the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories. Her love for planting flowers was more than a hobby—it was a way for her to add beauty to the world, just as she did with her presence.
Her great nieces and nephews, along with a host of loving extended family members and friends, will fondly remember Bonnie's infectious laughter, her willingness to lend an ear, and her ability to light up a room with her spirit. She was a friend to many, always ready to offer support or share in a celebration.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 11am-12pm at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane. A Celebration of Bonnie's life will follow at 12pm in the McClure Funeral Chapel.
