Graham

Brenda Sykes Cagle, affectionately known as Brenda to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in Alamance Co., North Carolina. Born on March 2, 1955, in Orange Co., NC, Brenda's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the love she had for those around her. Brenda's journey began as the cherished daughter of Lynwood Sykes and Ann Sparks Crawford. Her vibrant personality was a beacon of light in the lives of her siblings, Mary Sykes, Deborah Howard, Kenneth, Harold, and Arnold Sykes. Although she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Allen Leon Cagle Sr., her parents, her great-granddaughter Scarlett Runkle, her sister Kathy Brown, and her brothers Roger and Dale Sykes, Brenda's legacy continues through her loving family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Lorianne Cagle Daniel, and her son, Allen L. Cagle Jr., who, along with his wife Anna, gave Brenda the joy of numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her Fiancé, David Keith Walker and her step son, Darrell Shane Walkerk. Brenda's role as a matriarch was filled with unconditional love, guidance, and the kind of wisdom that only a grandmother can impart. Professionally, Brenda was a dedicated worker with the Alamance-Orange Connector, where she not only contributed to her community but also formed lasting friendships. Her commitment to her work was paralleled by her involvement in her church, Lighthouse Chapel in Graham. As a proud member, she lived her faith and cherished her church family, embodying the Christian values of love, charity, and compassion. Brenda's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a woman who embraced life with enthusiasm. An avid softball player, she found joy in the camaraderie and competition of the game. Her heart and soul were dedicated to her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless precious moments. Brenda was the last living member of her treasured Coffee Club, a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship she cultivated throughout her life. Known for her open heart and candid nature, Brenda never met a stranger. Her straightforwardness was matched only by her generosity, ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry. Her love for pets was evident in her companionship with her dog, Boss Hog, and the many birds she cared for over the years. Brenda Sykes Cagle's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, service, and the joy of simple pleasures. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. As we remember Brenda, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be cherished by her family and friends forever.
