Charles David “Buddy” Deese was born September 9, 1954 and deceased on Friday, July 24, 2026. His parents were Margaret Pearson Deese Payne (Tom) and Crawford Cleveland Deese. He was the baby brother to Barbara West (Bruce) and Kaye Kenn (Henry). He is survived by his daughter Chelsea Deese Hendricks, son-in-law Dylan and two beautiful granddaughters, Oakley and Carter Hendricks.

Born and raised in Alamance County he was a proud athlete and graduate of the 1972 Walter Williams High School class and still wore his letterman’s jacket!

Buddy was a jack of all trades - a car salesman at Nichols Pontiac and then moved into a long career in HVAC. He worked at Village Supply, R.E. Michel and was the owner of V.S.I., Inc. HVAC while completing many government contracts with PTRC as well.

He spent many days at Hyco Lake fishing, driving the boat and enjoying the lake community. Buddy owned and operated the Hyco Lake Marina for many years before taking on a partnership role.

Throughout his life, Buddy met many folks across the state and quickly made friends. He loved surprising everyone with vegetables, fruits and sweets at each visit.

Over the last eight years, his proudest role was being “Papa” to his granddaughters, Oakley and Carter. He was always present on the sidelines and auditoriums, cheering loudly and taking pictures of his girls.

During his 71 years, he found joy in spending time with family, cheering on his favorite team (Go Heels!) and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. It was common for him to buy strangers a meal, offer them life advice and leave them laughing from a silly joke. He made every moment meaningful. Buddy will be remembered for his warm smile, sense of humor, wise advice, and the unconditional love he shared so freely.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the memories he gave us, the lessons he taught us, and the love he leaves behind. Buddy’s legacy will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 2pm in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
