Carl Edwin Dobbins

BURLINGTON, N.C. - Mr. Carl Edwin Dobbins, 68, of 2016 N. Ashland Drive, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 at the Hospice Home of Burlington after several years of failing health. Born in Rutherford County, N.C., he was the son of the late Raleigh Robert Dobbins and Ethel Roberson Dobbins, who survives. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Diane Matheny Dobbins. Carl served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty during the Vietnam Conflict and was retired from Burlington Industries Inc. as a diesel mechanic.Surviving him, in addition to his mother, are two sons, Stephen Dobbins and wife Ann of Burlington and Phillip "PJ" Dobbins and fiancée Luz Miranda of Graham; grandchildren, Stephanie Dobbins and Avery Dobbins; and a sister, Frieda Campfield of Henrietta, N.C.The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral Home, 1030 S. Main Street, Graham, N.C. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 from 1:30 until 3 p.m., with a funeral service to follow in the McClure Chapel with the Rev. David Gordon officiating.
