Caroleen Foust Allen

SNOW CAMP, N.C. - Mrs. Caroleen Foust Allen, 93, of 717 Clark Road, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at the Careview Nursing Home.She was the daughter of the late Regent "Rez" Foust and Effie Dare Wyatt Foust.She was an active member of Center United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women, having been awarded a life membership. Her loves were her flowers in her garden as well as painting. She was a charter member of the Alamance County Geological Society, starting in 1983, and contributed many articles to the journals.Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, John C. Allen, of the home; son-in-law, Robert E. Riley, of Chapel Hill; two stepgranddaughters; sister, Adell McPherson, of Graham; and loving nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a husband, Newlin Shaw; daughter, Nancy Shaw Riley; sisters, Lottie L. Braxton and Edna G. Braxton; and a brother, Wyatt Foust. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at the Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Park and Minister Mark Tope officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the residence.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center UMC Memorial Association c/o Lynette Dixon, 1682 Dixon Lamb Road, Graham, NC 27253.
