July 20, 1962 — August 19, 2025

Mebane

Charles Christopher Yerton, known affectionately as Chris to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at his cherished lake house in Clarksville, VA. Born on July 20, 1962, in Mecklenburg County, NC, Chris's life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family, and his passion for the great outdoors. Chris is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Sandra Roland Yerton, who was not only his life partner but also his favorite fishing companion. Their adventures took them from the tranquil waters of their home state to the rugged beauty of Alaska, creating a lifetime of memories. He was a loving father to his daughter, Holly Y. Hunter, and her husband Derek, and to his son, Dillon Yerton. Chris's joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandchildren, Max and Reese Hunter, who will miss their Pappy’s warm presence and boundless affection. He was the cherished son of Nancy Green Yerton and was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Leon Yerton. Chris's brother, Bryan Yerton, and his wife Jennifer, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, will fondly remember his generous spirit and hearty laugh. Chris's professional life was spent in the printing industry, where he was known for commitment to excellence. He and Sandra later opened an Antique Store in Prospect Hill named Hillside Sales. This was his pride and joy as he would never miss an opportunity to share and pray with those who needed his guidance. His ability to help others always made him smile. A man of deep Christian faith, Chris lived his beliefs through his actions and words. He never missed an opportunity to share his testimony with others, offering comfort and guidance with a gentle hand. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he conducted his life—as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. An avid fisherman and hunter, Chris found solace and joy in nature. His love for the outdoors was a constant throughout his life, and he cherished the quiet moments spent by the water or in the woods. Chris's culinary pleasures were simple yet profound; he was often seen savoring a piece of candy, cantaloupe or some jerky, a small delight that spoke volumes about his ability to find happiness in the everyday. Chris's passion for English Bulldogs was well-known, and his beloved Rosie was more than a pet; she was a treasured member of the family who held a special place in his heart. Chris Yerton's legacy is one of love, faith, and a life well-lived. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his spirit will be felt in the rustling leaves, the gentle lapping of the lake's shore, and the quiet moments of reflection he so cherished. He will be deeply missed, but his impact on the world will endure through the lives of those he touched.
