Charles Dewey “Jeep” Futrell, 97, of Graham went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 26, 2026. He was born on October 26, 1928, to Dewey and Leitha Futrell.
An avid sportsman, Jeep played football, basketball, and baseball, carrying his love for athletics throughout his life. He especially enjoyed spending time on the golf course—never forgetting the day he made a hole-in-one—and by the water fishing. Jeep had a deep appreciation for nature. He loved working in his garden and tending his grapevines. He found great satisfaction in beekeeping, often sharing his knowledge with others.
He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love of life’s simple pleasures, and the kindness and guidance he shared with all who knew him.
Jeep is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Shepherd Futrell; his son, Jeffrey Futrell of the home; his daughter, Kimberly Futrell (Ron Paskowski) of Godwin, NC; and his grandson, Zachary Futrell of Denver, CO.
A service to honor his life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 2:00p.m. at McClure Funeral Home, with Pastor David Neff officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45-1:45p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will follow on Monday, March 30, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown from the ARMC ICU staff.
