Claudette Cordelia (Whitmore) Hayes

CLAUDETTE C. WHITMORE HAYES OF 3853 Mt. Willen Road, Haw River, North Carolina 27258, the daughter of the late Rudy Nathaniel Whitmore and Luella Ethel Dixon Whitmore. Claudette began her spiritual growth and development in her early teens at Bethsada Baptist Church in Mebane, N.C. Claudette met and married the love of her life, Lee Gother Hayes and they were married January 21, 1956. Shortly after marriage she joined her husband, who was in the United States Marines, stationed in California. After finishing his tour of duty and returning to N.C., Lee was honorably discharged on March 25, 1962. To that union was born four children: Janeice Cox (Britt), Cedric Hayes, Wayne Hayes (Corrie) and Merv Hayes (Andrea). Grandchildren are as follows: Brandi Varlaro (John), Christina Hayes, Ciara Fischer (Jerod), Ryan Hayes, Bradlee Hayes, Vanessa Hayes, Olivia Hayes, Jackson Hayes (Taylor), Natalie Hayes, Ashley Garton, and Joshua Conrad. Claudette is survived by sisters Vernice Logan and Clara Burnette. Claudette was preceded in death by her husband Lee G. Hayes, her parents, Rudy N. Whitmore and Luella D. Whitmore, siblings Herman Whitmore, Hampton Whitmore, Annabelle Whitmore Burnette, Clyde Whitmore, Elwood Whitmore, Attrice Haith and two grandchildren Cedric Hayes, Jr. and Vanessa Hayes. Claudette went to be with Christ and the heavenly angels in a peaceful passing. After many decades of faithful service and as one of Bethsada Baptist Church’s witnesses. She instructed her children and grandchildren in the Lord, prayed for them daily and was a living witness to God’s faithfulness. Claudette cherished her volunteer ministry and spent countless hours in dedicated service in the following positions and ministries: deaconess, Women’s Auxiliary and Choir, Pastor’s Aide, Bible Study, adult Sunday School class, kitchen helper, and Custodian of the church. She testified to the faithfulness of Christ and his salvation with all who would listen. She endured life’s challenges and trials with integrity and perseverance. Claudette had the peace of God and the calmness and tranquility that resulted from her precious relationship with Jesus Christ. That peace put Claudette’s mind and heart at rest. Through Jesus, she conquered her trials and never failed to trust in God’s provision and faithfulness. We know that we will see our dear Claudette again in the Kingdom of Heaven. Claudette was employed at Ametek Corp. in Whitsett, N.C. from 1978 until she retired in 1998.  Flower Girls: Family & Friends

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in  Mebane. Officiating will be Rev. Clyde Whitmore. Burial will follow in Bethsada Baptist Church Cemetery. A public viewing will be on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.
