GRAHAM - Cloris Torres Vega, 85, passed away at UNC Hospitals on Sunday Nov. 9, 2014.Originally born in Puerto Rico, Cloris was married to her late husband, Joaquin Daniel Vega, for 55 years and taught Spanish for 27 years. Cloris was a woman of great faith, who helped raise her brothers and sisters as if she were their mother. She was also extremely devoted to all of her family whom she loved dearly.Cloris leaves behind daughters, Lizzette Vega (Dr. Jody Wallace) of Graham and Zulma Vila (Walter) of Haw River; sister, Zulma Torres of Texas; brothers, Edgardo Torres (Maria), Norman Torres and Yamil Torres (Iris), all of Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Walter Vila (Michelle) of Mebane, George Daniel Morales of Chapel Hill, Paul Alexander Wallace of Graham and Nanette Atkinson (James) of Chapel Hill; and great-grandchild, Collin Atkinson of Chapel Hill.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique Torres and Isabel Ortiz Torres; brothers, Frank Torres and Jose Torres; and sister, Alma Torres. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation being held one hour prior to the service.Burial will take place at noon Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, in Salisbury National Cemetery.The family would like to thank all the staff at UNC Hospitals and The Presbyterian Home of Hawfields for all the love and care shown to Cloris.
