Reflection of Life

Cozette Jones Jeffries blessed her parents’ lives upon her arrival on 8 May 1937.  Born in Alamance County to the late Junious and Cornelia Burnette Jones, she will be remembered for her bountiful vegetable and flower gardens as well as her delectable cakes.

Cozette graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and thereafter married the late James William Jeffries on 3 July 1960.  She developed her celebrated culinary skills through various positions in the food service industry during her early life.  Transitioning to an industrial career, she retired from Ametek/Lamb Electric after 23 years of dedicated service to this profession. Cozette accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a committed and active member of Martin’s Chapel Baptist Church.  Her service to the Lord manifested through her gifts and talents that she shared with the church choir, kitchen committee, ladies’ auxiliary, missionary society, and usher board among other church organizations and include appointment as the church secretary.

On 28 August 2019, Cozette began her eternal life with God. She leaves behind her loving son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Rhonda Jeffries of Blythewood, SC; and her affectionate granddaughters Devair Jeffries of Christiansburg, VA and Remi Jeffries of Ormond Beach, FL.  She is also survived by many caring siblings including her sister Kattie Proctor of Capital Heights, MD; sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and John Mebane of Graham, NC; brother and sister-in-law Fred and Sylvia Jones of Burlington, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law Roxie Daye of Greensboro, NC; Benny and Isabella Jeffries of Burlington, NC; Lucy and Roger Jeffries of Burlington, NC; and Louise Jeffries of Burlington, NC. She was pre-deceased by her sister Elnora Allen and brothers Alfonzie Jones and Reesie Jones.  There is a huge host of wonderful friends and relatives including nieces and nephews who will all miss Cozette’s spirited personality and her contributions to the community.

A service to celebrate her life will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Martin's Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Jarrell, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham 5:00 - 7:00 Saturday evening. Online condolences may be sent to www.mcclurefuneralservice.net

There is No Night Without a Dawning

No winter without a spring And beyond the dark horizon Our hearts will once more sing …. For those who leave us for a while Have only gone away Out of a restless, care worn world Into a brighter day!
