Curtis York Clark

Mebane

Curtis York Clark, 92, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022 after a year of declining health.  He was born in Alamance County January 27, 1930 to the late Curtis York Clark Sr. and Ora Andrews Clark.  He was one of 7 children and the last surviving of his siblings.  He attended Mebane High School where he played football and basketball and was the May King of his senior class.  He furthered his education at Alamance Business College and went to work for Insurance and Reality in Mebane.  He was in the U.S. Army and served proudly in the Korean War.  He was a member of Mebane Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder and treasurer of the church.  Curtis was a volunteer fireman for the town of Mebane for 35 years and chief for 10 years.  He was also a member of the Planning Board Committee for Mebane.  He was known as the “voice of the Mebane Tigers and the Eastern Eagles for many years as he announced every home football game.  Family, church, serving others, sports and gardening were his passions in life and he will forever be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor and willingness to help in any situation. Curtis was married to Mary “Lou” Frazier for 70 years and she preceded him in death in 2020.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Bruce and his son-in-law John Pruitt.  He is survived by his daughter Vicky Pruitt; daughter-in-law, Pam Clark; grandsons, Justin (Mary), Phillip, Michael (Megan) and Joshua (fiancée Ashley).  He had 5 great granddaughters, Emma Grace, Isley Ann, Olive Mae, Nora Jane, June Clark and Adaleigh Marie.  He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be held at 2pm on Monday January 2, 2023 at Mebane Presbyterian Church.  The family will receive friends from 1-2 Monday prior to the service. The family would like to thank Mebane Ridge Assisted Living, Greater Homecare Staffing and Community Homecare and Hospice for the care they provided to Curtis.  A very special thanks to Lovey Swepson and Latoya Wilkins for their care and encouragement to keep Curtis living life to the fullest.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial to Mebane Presbyterian Church Elevator Fund 402 S. 5 th Street Mebane, NC 27302 or Community Homecare& Hospice 2730 Tucker Street, Suite 600, Burlington, NC 27215.
