Mr. James Curtis Simmons, “Mr. Curtis”, aged 88 years, of Efland, died February 22, 2017 after several years of declining health. He was born and lived in the Buckhorn Community; and retired from Kingsdown after 39 years service. Mr. Simmons was the son of Anderson and Fannie Elizabeth Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ina Hatch of Efland; four brothers, Paul Simmons of Efland, Ernest Simmons of Mebane, Walter Garvey Simmons of Efland and Tyson Simmons of Mebane; and grandson Alexander Kimball of Durham. Survivors include his daughters, Phyllis Kimball (Ken) of Durham and Jamie Brady (Rob) of Asheville; grandson, Chris Kimball; and great-grandchild KyLee Kimball of Durham. The funeral service for Mr. Simmons will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of McClure Funeral Home in Mebane. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Mebane. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12 noon until 12:45 pm at the funeral home. Many thanks to all who helped Curtis live independently for so long.
