Dan Sherrill Braxton

SNOW CAMP - Dan Sherrill Braxton, 72, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the VA Hospital in Durham, NC.Dan was born in Alamance County and graduated from Southern Alamance High School, class of 1962. He retired from Euliss Oil Company in Liberty, NC, working there 40 years. He enjoyed farming, especially raising chickens and guineas for many years. Dan also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and attending gospel singings with his wife. Dan served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Snow Camp American Legion Post 305 and was a past Commander. He was a member of South Fork Friends Church and was attending Smithwood United Church of Christ in Liberty.Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nellie Pitts Braxton, of the home; daughter, Kelly Braxton Bowman of Climax, NC; grandchildren, Macy Alexis Bowman and John Peyton Bowman; brothers, Jimmy Braxton of Snow Camp, Earl Braxton (Patty) of Orlando, FL, Wade Braxton (Andrea) of Elon and David Braxton (Nancy) of Liberty, NC.He was preceded in death by his parents, Perleman Stuart Braxton and Mattie Mae Coble Braxton.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at 3 p.m. at South Fork Friends Church. Officiating will be Andrew Needham.
